Cookie Policy – Information

This information, provided pursuant to art. 13 of European Regulation 679/2016 of the European Parliament and of the Council, complies with the provisions of Legislative Decree 196/2003 and subsequent amendments of the Italian Republic, to the Provision of the Data Protection Authority no. 229 of 8 May 2014, as well as to the Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This information is effective from the date of its publication on the site, i.e. 25 May 2018.

What are cookies?
Cookies are pieces of information entered on your browser when you visit a website or use a social network with your PC, smartphone or tablet. Each cookie contains various data such as, for example, the name of the server from which it comes, a numeric identifier, etc.
Cookies can remain in the system for the duration of a session (i.e. until the browser used to navigate the web is closed) or for long periods and may contain a unique identification code.

Some cookies are used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring and storage of specific information about users who access a web page.
These cookies, so-called technical, are often useful, because they can make browsing and use of the web faster, or because, for example, they facilitate certain procedures when you shop online, when you authenticate to areas with restricted access or when a website automatically recognises the language you normally use.
A particular type of cookie, called analytic, is then used by website managers to collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site, so as to elaborate general statistics on the service and its usage.
Other cookies can be used to monitor and profile users during browsing, to study their movements and web browsing or consumption habits (what they buy, what they read, etc.), also for the purpose of sending targeted services and personalised advertising (so-called Behavioural Advertising). These are called profiling cookies.
It may also happen that a web page include cookies from other sites, contained in various elements hosted on the page itself, such as banner ads, images, videos, etc.
In these cases, we talk about so-called third-party cookies, which are normally used for profiling purposes.
So that the cookies that you download on your PC, smartphone and tablet can also be read by other subjects, different from those that manage the web pages you visit.

Cookies and privacy
Given the particular invasiveness that profiling cookies (especially third-party cookies) may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation establish that users must be adequately informed about their use and express their valid consent to insert cookies on their terminal.
With the provision “Identification of the simplified procedures for the information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies” of 8 May 2014[web doc no. 3118884], the Italian Data Protection Authority has established that when a user accesses the home page or another page of a website that uses cookies for profiling and marketing purposes must immediately be shown a banner, which clearly indicates:
1) That the site uses profiling cookies to send targeted advertisement.
2) That the site also allows third-party cookies, in the case of use of this type of cookie, i.e. cookies installed by a different site through the site the user is visiting.
3) A link to further and more detailed information, with indications on the use of cookies sent by the site, where it is possible to deny consent to their installation directly or by connecting to the various sites in the case of “third-party” cookies.
4) The indication that continuing navigation (e.g. accessing another area of the site or selecting an image or a link) the user agrees on the use of cookies.

Blocking third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are generally not essential for browsing, so the user can reject them by default, through special functions on the browser.

Activating the Do Not Track option
The Do Not Track option is present in most last-generation browsers. Websites designed to provide this option, when activated, should automatically stop collecting some of the browsing data. As mentioned, however, not all websites are set up to comply with this option (discretionary).

Activating the “anonymous surfing” mode
With this function it is possible to navigate without leaving a trace in the browser regrading the navigation data. The sites will not remember the user, the pages visited will not be stored in the history and new cookies will be deleted.
However, the anonymous browsing function does not guarantee anonymity on the Internet, because its only aim is not maintaining the navigation data in the browser, while your browsing data will continue to remain available to website managers and connectivity providers.

Deleting cookies directly
There are special functions to do this in all browsers. However, is should be noted that every time a user connects to the Internet, new cookies are downloaded, so their deletion should be performed periodically. If desired, some browsers offer automated systems for periodic cookie deletion.
Authorisation procedures
As specified, users can give their consent to the use of cookies in simplified form: by clicking on the “OK” button; closing the banner with the “X” button; scrolling the page or clicking any element of the contents inside the site pages. Continuing browsing through the exit from this cookie policy in the absence of a specific choice related to the management of consent is equivalent to giving consent to the use of all cookies.
